Book Review: Interview with Louisa Hall

Luckily I was able to find an interview with Louisa Hall, most of you all know who she is but for those who do not she is the author of The Carriage Hall and, most recently, the novel titled Speak. Speak takes an in-depth look at the internal need for human communication, relation and connection, as well as the idea of artificial intelligence. Louisa writes from so many different perspectives that it's very intriguing to see the differences in each character, however more interesting to see that those same differences are collaborated with similarities, and that is what Louisa is showing in her novel. She is showing the similarities of us humans. Here are some the lines in the interview, quoted by Louisa, that I found interesting and worth conversation. Can't wait to discuss!

"I don’t think an author should manipulate her characters into strange coincidences."
"I imagine its structure, something I first practiced in writing poems." (collaboration with a form)
"I realized that to make the story come alive, I’d have to exercise my human power to break the pattern I’d started out with"
"Push against the patterns we’ve chosen."
"I wouldn’t be a writer if I thought there wasn’t real magic in voice."
